Iago survives Othello’s assault at the end of the play. Cassio places Iago under arrest and subjects him to torture. Does Iago survive his torment? It is up to the reader’s imagination.

Iago is Othello’s arch-enemy, an adversary who influences the play’s plot. He is a consummate actor who uses other people as pawns in his games. The primary Iago’s targets are Othello, Desdemona, and Cassio (Creating the Role of Iago).

In Othello, Cassio takes the lieutenant position formerly held by Iago. It makes sense why Iago despises Othello because he was responsible for selecting Cassio in the first place.

Iago encourages and informs Othello as to his plans, which include both Cassio and Othello. As a result, Cassio is stripped of his title. Othello’s fate is far more terrible.

He murders his wife, Desdemona, believing she has betrayed him because he was deceived into thinking her faithful. Why didn’t he try harder to figure out what was going on? Jealousy blinded him. And Emilia tells Desdemona that jealousy is a bad influence:

“But jealous souls will not be answered so;

They are not ever jealous for the cause,

But jealous for they are jealous: ’tis a monster

Begot upon itself, born on itself.”

(Act 3, scene 4)

Iago’s triumphs are short-lived, as Emilia, Desdemona’s maid, exposes the truth. In retribution, Othello stabs Iago in anger but is powerful enough to drive him to suicide as a result of his remorse.

Iago survives Othello’s attack, but he is unable to atone for his deeds. What happens to Cassio at the conclusion of Othello? He succeeds Othello as commander and has to punish Iago.

He puts Iago in jail, then tortures him later. It’s tough to tell in Shakespeare’s play whether or not Iago survives the torture. In Cinthio’s s original story, though, Iagoue’misario dies. (Cithio as a source for Othello). This is what occurs to Iago at the conclusion of Othello.

Iago plotted how to harm Othello and his pride in his mind, filming a conspiracy as to how to ruin him. He put into action his malicious scheme, with the aid of his wife Emilia, Desdemona’s lady’s help. After hearing the true plan from Iago, Othello was struck dumb and murdered Iago out of fury, filled with shame and anger.
