Daredevil is an American television series based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name, developed by Drew Goddard for Netflix. It is part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and shares continuity with previous films in the franchise. The first episode premiered at the end of 2016, followed by four more episodes streamed exclusively on Netflix between February and April 2017.

Marvel Television, ABC Studios, and DeKnight Productions collaborated on the first season of the show. Steven S. De Knight served as showrunner for the first season, with Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez replacing him for the second season; Erik Oleson took over as series showrunner for its third year, with Goddard serving as a consultant.

A blind lawyer-by-day who uses his other senses to protect the people of New York as a masked vigilante by night, Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) is a superhero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Rosario Dawson, and Vincent D'Onofrio star in season one; Toby Leonard Moore, Vondie Curtis-Hall, Bob Gunton, and Ayelet Zurer join for season two; and Joanne Whalley, Jay Ali and Wilson Bethel join in season three.

In late 2013, Marvel regained the rights to Daredevil after a decade-long court battle with 20th Century Fox. Goddard was originally hired in December 2013 and DeKnight took over as showrunner in May 2014. In May 2014, filming began in New York City's Hell's Kitchen, areas that were still recognizable to fans of the old neighborhood.

The series premiered in the United States on March 25, 2017. Netflix initially released all twenty episodes of the first season on April 10, 2015, while the second season was made available entirely on March 18, 2016. They were well received. In July 2016, it was announced that a third season had been renewed for The Punisher at the recommendation of Bernthal himself. In April 2016, Netflix ordered a spin-off featuring Frank Castle / Punisher and titled The Punisher to be developed.

On November 29, 2018, Netflix canceled Daredevil. Wilson Fisk / Kingpin and Matt Murdock will reprise their roles in MCU movies produced by Marvel Studios, starting with Hawkeye and Spider-Man: No Way Home (both 2021), respectively.
