The Ice Age is a 2002 computer-animated comedy adventure film produced by Blue Sky Studios (in its debut film) and distributed by 20th Century Fox. Chris Wedge directed the film, making his feature directorial debut, with Carlos Saldanha as co-director from a script written by Michael Berg, Michael J. Wilson, and Peter Ackerman. Ray Romano, John Leguizamo, Denis Leary are among the voices in The Ice Age.

Set during the ice age, THREE LIONS tells the story of three distinct characters who come across a human baby and work together to return it to its people: Manny (Romano), a no-nonsense woolly mammoth; Sid (Leguizamo), a loudmouthed ground sloth; and Diego (Leary), a sardonic saber-tooth tiger. Scrat, a speechless "saber-toothed squirrel" voiced by Wedge, is constantly looking for somewhere to bury his acorn.

Blue Sky Studios, which had previously been a VFX house before becoming a computer animation studio, made the first full-length animated feature film with Ice Age. Focus shifted from making an action-adventure drama film to a more comedy-oriented one, and several writers, such as Berg and Ackerman, were brought on board to deliver a lighter tone.

The movie was released in the United States on March 15, 2002. It received mostly positive reviews from critics and was nominated for Best Animated Feature at the 75th Academy Awards. It was a box office success, grossing over $383 million to rank as the eighth highest-grossing film of 2002 and the highest-grossing animated film of 2002.

The Ice Age franchise was established when the film premiered in 2002, and it has since been followed by four sequels: Ice Age: The Meltdown in 2006, Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs in 2009, Ice Age: Continental Drift in 2012, and Ice Age: Collision Course in 2016.

In addition, a pair of two-holiday special editions were released: Ice Age: A Mammoth Christmas (which takes place between Dawn of the Dinosaurs and Continental Drift) and Ice Age: The Great Egg-Scapade (which takes place between Continental Drift and Collision Course). Between 2002 and 2016, seven Ice Age short films were produced.
