My Little Pony is a children's animated television series produced by Sunbow Productions and Marvel Productions, as well as Toei Animation and AKOM, based on the My Little Pony toys manufactured by Hasbro. The first episode of My Little Pony 'n Friends was featured in this show.

The third part would be a non-Hasbro brand cartoon based on another Hasbro franchise, including The Glo Friends, MoonDreamers, and the Potato Head Kids. The series premiered on September 15, 1986, nearly three months after My Little Pony: The Movie (which had featured the Paradise Estate and several of the series' major characters), and concluded on September 25, 1987.

The entire 10-episode season was released on DVD in NTSC format in North America and PAL format internationally under the title My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic. Rescue from Midnight Castle and Escape from Catrina were two previous television episodes that were chopped down into segments for a My Little Pony 'n Friends special. A complete series of My Little Pony parts has been made available on DVD in Regions 1 and 4. As of 2013, additional sections have been released on DVD, including "My Little Pony: The Glo Friends."
