Persona 4: The Animation is an anime television series based on Atlus' Persona 4 video game. Yu Narukami, a young teenager who has moved to Inaba and discovered a strange string of murders, is the protagonist of the story. Yu and his friends decide to investigate the murders and prevent other people from being murdered after discovering a strange TV World distortion and gaining a mysterious power known as "Persona."

The first series, created by AIC ASTA and directed by Seiji Kishi, aired in Japan on MBS, TBS, CBC, and Animax between October 2011 and March 2012. An original video animation episode was released in August 2012 as a part of the Persona 4: The Animation -The Factor of Hope- condensed film adaptation. Sentai Filmworks licensed the series in North America, while Kazé and Manga Entertainment did so in the United Kingdom.

Despite the fact that the anime series received some negative reviews for its pacing and animation, it was regarded as a good adaptation of the video game. Persona 4: The Golden Animation, a second adaptation based on the PlayStation Vita port of the same name, aired in Japan between July and September 2014. This adaptation was produced by A-1 Pictures and is licensed in North America by Aniplex of America, unlike the prior series, which was made by Production I.G.
