Supernatural is an American fantasy drama television series created by Eric Kripke. It debuted on The WB on September 13, 2005, before moving to The CW's lineup. Sam and Dean Winchester are two brothers who investigate supernatural beings such as demons, ghosts, dinosaurs, and other monsters for a living.

The first season was created by Aaron Korsh and Steve Franks, while the second season was written by Robert Kripke, who also served as executive producer alongside Kim Manners. In conjunction with Wonderland Sound and Vision, Warner Bros. Television produced the series. McG, Singer, Sgriccia, Gamble, Carver, Shiban, Edlund, Glass, Adlan, and Brian Bendis were among the show's executive producers. Kim Manners died of lung cancer during the production of the fourth season after serving as executive producer and director for all previous seasons.

The series, which has been in development for almost ten years, is set in and around the city of Vancouver, British Columbia. The pilot was seen by over 5.69 million people, prompting The WB to pick up the show for a full season. Originally, Kripke had planned for the series to have three seasons, but he later extended it to five. After five seasons, the primary narrative thread of the program was concluded with Kripke leaving his position as showrunner.

After 11 seasons, Supernatural went on to produce a spin-off, Wayward Sisters. With its 11th season, the series surpassed Merlin as the longest-running American live-action fantasy TV series. The show was renewed for a 15th and final season of 20 episodes, which began airing on October 10, 2019. On November 19th, 2020, after 327 episodes had aired, the series came to an end.
