Disclaimer: This quiz is not a diagnosis. If you think you might have ADHD, please see a doctor.
Do you have trouble focusing?
Do you daydream often?
Do you feel like you're always moving or fidgeting?
Do you impulsively do things without thinking about the consequences?
Do you have trouble completing tasks or following through on plans?
Do you avoid or procrastinate doing tasks that require sustained mental effort?
If most of these sound like they could describe you, it's possible that you have attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). According to the American Psychiatric Association, ADHD is "a brain disorder that can make it hard to pay attention, control impulses, make decisions, and stick to a task." If you think you might have ADHD, it's important to see a doctor so they can give you a formal diagnosis. There is no single test for ADHD, but doctors will usually ask about your symptoms and how long you've been experiencing them. They may also talk to your family or teachers to get more information.
If you're diagnosed with ADHD, there are treatments that can help. These include medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Medication can help improve focus and reduce impulsiveness. Behavioral therapy can teach strategies for organizing tasks and managing time. And making some lifestyle changes - like eating healthy, exercising regularly, and getting enough sleep - can also help lessen symptoms of ADHD.
