The Wedding Singer is a 1998 American comedy film directed by Frank Coraci and written by Tim Herlihy. It follows the story of Adam Sandler as a wedding singer in the 1980s and Drew Barrymore as a waitress he meets. Robert Simonds was behind the production. The musical adaptation, which debuted on Broadway in 2006, was later adapted into a screenplay.

In 1985, Robbie Hart is a lovely, charming, and entertaining wedding singer from Ridgefield, New Jersey. He is betrothed to his long-time partner Linda, who fell in love with him when he aspired to be a rock star. At the reception hall where she is just employed, he meets and becomes friends with Julia Sullivan, a waitress. She is engaged to Glenn Gulia, a businessman and bond investor who has promised to sing at her wedding.

On his wedding day, Robbie's sister Kate informs him that Linda has changed her mind about the wedding. When Linda learned that he had abandoned his rock star dreams to pursue a career as a wedding singer, she stopped loving him.
